【摘要】:Thistestmethodhelpstoassesstheaxiallockingforceofamodulartaper.ExamplesofthesedevicesaredescribedinSpecificationF1636.Sometypesofdevicesthatmayutilizethistypeofconnectionarethemodularshoulderandmodularhipprostheses.Additionalmeansofevaluatingthelockingmechanismsoftapersmaybeappropriate,dependinguponthedesignofthedevice.Thistestmethodmaynotbeappropriateforallimplantapplications.Theuseriscautionedtoconsidertheappropriatenessofthepracticeinviewofthematerialsanddesignbeingtestedandtheirpotentialapplication.Whilethispracticemaybeusedtomeasuretheforcerequiredtodisengagetapers,anycomparisonofsuchdataforvariouscomponentdesignsmusttakeintoconsiderationthesizeoftheimplantandthetypeoflockingmechanismevaluated.1.1Thistestmethodestablishesastandardmethodologyfordeterminingtheforcerequired,underlaboratoryconditions,todisassembletapersofimplantsthatareotherwisenotintendedtorelease.Someexamplesarethefemoralcomponentsofatotalorpartialhipreplacementorshoulderinwhichtheheadandbasecomponentaresecuredtogetherbyaself-lockingtaper.1.2Thistestmethodhasbeendevelopedprimarilyforevaluationofmetalandceramicheaddesignsonmetaltapersbutmayhaveapplicationtoothermaterialsanddesigns.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
